an overview of our design process


step one

LET’S CONNECT

Tell us about your project via our contact page, Instagram DM, or email. We'll review your details and set up a quick 15-minute phone chat to discuss your project and needs. This initial conversation helps us both decide if we're a good match. We'll cover your project, our creative process, fees, and any questions or concerns you have.

step two

SURVEY + AGREEMENT

After we've agreed to work together, we'll visit your home to assess your interior and discuss changes or additions you've considered. For full home renovations or new builds, we'll meet with the architectural team and/or builder to understand your project better. We'll take measurements or review blueprints for space planning, discuss your 'must-haves,' and gather inspiration to define your style. Once we've defined the Scope of Work, we'll provide an estimate, sign contracts, and start the process of transforming your space!

STEP three

SCHEMATIC DESIGN PRESENTATION

During this stage, we create a design plan for your home. Drawing from our discussions and creative insights, we present 1-3 design direction options, including inspiration photos, floor plans, and furniture layouts. Our goal is to establish the overall look and feel for your space, ensuring that we share a common vision for capturing your interior's aesthetic. After refining and gaining approval for the schematic direction, we move into the Design Selection Phase.

DESIGN SELECTIONS

After you've approved the schematic design, our team dives into the task of selecting items that fit your space and budget. We continually reference the schematic presentation to ensure all design selections align with the approved interior direction. Our choices are made with careful consideration of scale and style, in line with your interior vision. This phase is where the concept of your home starts to take tangible form and come to life. Once we've completed the Design Selections for your space, we provide you with an estimated total interior investment. Upon your final approval and payment, we transition into the Procurement Phase

step five

PROCUREMENT OPTION ONE: LEAVE IT TO US

In this phase, known to our Clients as "The Waiting Game," your role in the design process is complete, and our team works diligently behind the scenes to ensure all your goods are fabricated and delivered as planned. If your project is a new build or renovation, we are available during this time to assist your builders by answering any questions and checking in on your project's site as needed.

PROCUREMENT OPTION TWO: YOU TAKE IT FROM HERE

During this phase, we provide you with an outlined list of Design Selections for your review and product links for independent ordering. This option suits those who prefer to invest in their interior using a personal credit card or make piecemeal purchases. We are always available to assist with the installation and accessorizing of your space(s) once all purchases have arrived.

*The HEYDT HOME team advises that all independent purchases be made within a given timeline, as many items tend to become discontinued or go out of stock seasonally. We always remind our Clients, "If you love it, GO FOR IT!"

step six

INSTALLATION + ACCESSORIZING

The day we've all been waiting for has arrived – Installation Day! This is when we come in to install all your furnishings, including rugs, lights, hardware, and more. However, a room isn't truly complete until it's been accessorized and filled with meaningful pieces. A styling day to add the finishing touches to your space is usually scheduled on Installation Day or the day after, depending on the scale and scope of your project, making the big reveal even that more ‘simply beautiful’!
